What is the ANSO Scholarship?
The ANSO Scholarship is a program created by the Alliance of National and International Science Organizations (ANSO), led by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). It provides fully-funded scholarships for international students to pursue Masterā€™s and PhD degrees at leading Chinese universities, such as:

  • University of Science and Technology of China (USTC)
  • University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS)
  • CAS Institutes across China

šŸ“ Eligibility Requirements

To apply for this scholarship, you must meet the following conditions:

  1. Nationality: Must NOT be a Chinese citizen.
  2. Language: Be proficient in English or Chinese.
  3. Age:
    • Masterā€™s Program: Born after January 1, 1995
    • PhD Program: Born after January 1, 1990
  4. Current Status: Not currently studying for a Masterā€™s/PhD degree in China.
  5. Admission Standards: Meet admission requirements of USTC or UCAS.
  6. Assignment Restriction: Not allowed to work during the scholarship.

Note: You cannot apply for both USTC and UCAS simultaneously. Apply to only one institution.

Required Documents

Photocopy of passport (ordinary passport with validity of at least one year)

ā— A study or research proposal (no less than 800 words)

ā— Acceptance Letter (Mandatory for UCAS)

ā— Curriculum Vitae

ā— Two letters of recommendation from full professors or associate professors (with phone number and email address)

ā—Ā Foreigner Physical Examination Form (download in the Annex)

ā— Applicants for programs instructed in Chinese must provide the photocopy of HSK certificate (at least level 4) or other proof of their Chinese language proficiency; applicants for programs instructed in English must provide the photocopy of valid IELTS or TOEFL result or other proof of their English proficiency (except those whose mother tongue is English).

ā— Photocopy of degree certificate and academic transcripts for both Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree (if have) notarized by Ministry of Education or equivalent authority in your country

*Ā If applicants are university students, they must provide official documents showing their student status and the exact time when they will obtain their degree certificate;

*Ā If applicants already graduated but have not yet obtained the degree certificate, they must provide official documents explaining the reasons and stating clearly when they will obtain the degree certificate;

*Ā If applicants are already employed, they must provide official documents showing their status as on-post employees and permission of release.

ā€»Ā Notarized translation in Chinese or English must be attached if the submitted documents are not in Chinese or English.
